APPRENTICE
At Forum, we believe being a Christian isn’t just about believing in Jesus—it’s about becoming like Him. To be an apprentice of Jesus means committing to a lifelong journey of transformation, shaped by intentional practices like prayer, Scripture, community, and service. Listed below are four resources that can help you initiate, continue, or share your journey with others.
Beholding: Deepening Our Experience in God
This book helps readers move from a transactional experience with God to a transformational friendship with Him through prayer. In Beholding, spiritual director and poet Strahan Coleman invites readers to discover the joy of being with God, not just working for Him. As they inhabit the art of resting in God’s presence, prayer becomes not only a place of seeking, but becoming.
Based on the book above, Coleman creates a space to learn how to gaze into God as He gazes into us and to express ourselves wholly to Him. Each podcast highlights a different prayer focus, and is less than 10 minutes long.

Fasting Series in The Rule of Life Podcast
Their are four episodes in the Rule of Life podcast that center around the practice of Fasting. Episodes 1-4 of Season 3 focus on how the practice of fasting is a way To Offer Ourselves to God, To Grow in Holiness, To Amplify Our Prayers, and To Stand with the Poor. Each episode is between 60-100 minutes long.
You Are What You Love: The Spiritual Power of Habit
Who and what we worship fundamentally shapes our heart. We may not realize, however, the ways our hearts are taught to love rival gods instead of the One for whom we were made. In this book, James K.A. Smith helps us recognize the formative power of culture & transformative possibilities of Christian practices.
Practicing the Way’s The Fasting Practice
Designed to work in tandem with the Fasting Series listed above, this practice includes four session videos, weekly exercises and readings, & additional resources to help you establish the life-changing rhythm of fasting in your own life. This practice is best suited to do with community.
ABIDE
To abide with Jesus is to stay deeply connected to Him—not just on Sundays, but in every part of life. Inspired by John 15 and the practices we see in the life of Jesus, abiding is about slowing down, being present with God, and allowing His Spirit to shape who we are and how we live. It’s not about striving—it's about staying. Staying rooted in love, in truth, and in the presence of the One who gives us life.

Framed around one ordinary day, this book explores daily life through the lens of liturgy, small practices, and habits that form us. Drawing from the diversity of her life as a campus minister, Tish Harrison Warren opens up a practical theology of the everyday.

IMITATE
Imitating Jesus means taking His life as our model for living—not just believing in Him, but becoming like Him. We believe discipleship is a daily journey of transformation, where we let Jesus shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions. As we follow His way, empowered by His Spirit, we begin to reflect His character in our relationships, decisions, and rhythms of life.
When Jesus was asked to sum up everything into one command, he said to love God with everything we have & to love our neighbors as ourselves. Most of us have turned this simple idea of loving our neighbors into a nice saying, and then going on with our lives without actually putting it into practice. But what would happen if every follower of Jesus took the Great Commandment literally? This book by Jay Pathak and Dave Runyon shows you how.
