What is the actual service project?
We are packing 100,000 meals for underprivileged people in Uganda. We will set up multiple assembly lines and work together to pack boxes with meals of beans, rice and seasoning.
What is the program that is running this?
Feeding Children Everywhere (FCE)
What day are we doing this?
Saturday, December 8th
What time do we serve on that day?
Volunteers need to arrive no later than 4:00 pm. We should complete the project by 6:30 pm.
How long will the actual project take?
It is estimated that we will be able to accomplish the full project in two hours maximum, but there could be some limiting factors that make it take longer or even shorter.
Is there an age limit to this service project?
We welcome volunteers of all ages. Younger children just need to be able to reach the table (step stools are welcome). There are also positions on the assembly line that allow volunteers to work while seated for those who aren’t able to stand the entire time. If you have children pre-K and under, you may take advantage of the childcare available (see below). If you are concerned about the attention span of younger elementary children, there will be a kids’ area in the packing room where they can take a break from packing and color on the packing boxes.
Do we need to bring any supplies?
No. Feeding Children Everywhere supplies all materials (gloves, hair coverings, etc.)
Can I serve with my family?
YES! We want to make sure to keep as many families together as we can. The goal is to have 10-15 volunteers at one assembly line, so there should be ample opportunity to do this project with your family.
Can we serve together as a life group?
Yes. Most definitely. See above answer about “Can I serve with my family”. The same applies.
Are there other ways to serve besides being at the table and assembling the boxes?
By far the largest need is for volunteers to pack boxes; however, we will need some volunteers to assist with childcare as well. You can indicate how you would like to serve when you sign up online. Additionally, you can serve financially by giving a gift.
Do we need to volunteer for the entire two hours?
Yes—that is the ideal scenario. We hope you can mark your calendar and plan accordingly. If you have a special circumstance that limits your availability, let us know and we may be able to work around it.
Will there be childcare?
Yes. Childcare will be available for those pre-k and younger, if you wish to take advantage of it. We ask that you provide us with the names and ages of those needing childcare when you register to volunteer. When you arrive on the day of the project, you will need to check your child(ren) in at the children’s check-in desk (upstairs). If you wish to volunteer to be watch children, please sign up.
