LOVE DOES FOR KIDS
In the same way that Love Does has struck a deep chord with adults, kids will experience God in new and thrilling ways and see that living out our faith certainly isn’t boring! With this book, children will laugh, dream, and be inspired to make a difference for God, and they’ll learn to:
take ownership of their mistakes and forgive others for their mistakes.
never give up—no matter how scared they are.
put their faith into action by spending time with—and acting more like—Jesus.
AT HOME ACTIVITIES
What are some ways God’s love has changed you?
What are some ways we can stay rooted in Jesus and His love?
What do you think can happen when we’re rooted in Jesus?
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR THE FAMILY
A breath prayer is a word or phrase to repeat in a single breath with one part on the inhale and the other part on the exhale. Try this together as a family to encourage your children to turn to God in times of worry, frustration, anger, or sadness.
Here are some examples below:
Inhale: God help me… // Exhale: be rooted in your love.
Inhale: The Lord is my Shepherd… // Exhale: I shall not want.
Inhale: Lord, I am scared… // Exhale: but you are with me.
BREATH PRAYER
Paul penned a wonderful prayer to the Ephesians about being rooted. You can pray this prayer over your family too. Invite everyone to close their eyes and imagine what it’s like to be rooted firmly so that nothing can move them. With their eyes still closed, slowly read the words of Ephesians 3:16–19. Share what stood out or how you felt during the prayer.
“I AM ROOTED” PRAYER
Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God and second is like it—to love others as we love ourselves. But this love doesn’t come from nowhere. God loved us first! His love changes us and makes it possible to love others. Use a blank card or a piece of paper to write a love note to God as a family. (Check out 1 John 4:7–12 to see more of God’s love.) You can write simple words, a prayer, or draw pictures.
